The D.Y.E formed when Melbourne MC’s MHZ and Slam Master D were introduced

to DJ Marshall at a local bar in northeast Melbourne. Drawing from a broad range of

musical influences, The D.Y.E have created a blend of Hip-Hop that encompasses their

unrelenting energy and passion that is evident in their music and live shows.

Since 2011, The D.Y.E have been active in the Melbourne Hip Hop scene, hosting and

headlining shows, with venues including the Corner Hotel, the Laundry, the Espy and

Revolver. They won their way on to the bill at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl where they

played Push Over 2013, after taking out The Push’s online Hip Hop competition for

upcoming Hip Hop artists.

The D.Y.E’s first mixtape, ‘Arts & Crafts’ was released in mid 2013. The release

comprised upbeat melodic Hip Hop tunes featuring a catchy blend of Melbourne party

inspired hooks. The release was featured in Beat Magazine in July 2013 to promote the

release of the track ‘Cash For Beers’. ’Cash For Beers’ was also featured on Beat Radio.

The track ‘Everything’s OK’ which features Melbourne jazz singer Mo Sesto, made the

final four in the 2013 Budweiser Australia People’s Choice Awards. This landed the

crew a trip to Sydney for the Australian Independent Music Awards staged at the Star

Casino in November.

The follow up mixtape, ‘Volume 2’ was released in late 2013. The mixtape showcases

an accomplished and unique style of Australian Hip Hop coming to the fore. With

trademark D.Y.E hooks and a blend of witty lyricism, the mixtape secured a show at the

iconic Corner Hotel and headline show at Melbourne’s Laundry Bar.

The D.Y.E continue to turn heads with their unadulterated energy at live shows. The

synergy of the trio truly captivates audiences, displaying an honest and refreshing

hunger for performing live.

The D.Y.E are currently in the studio working hard for their next major release, due in

mid 2014.
